Ms. Janet Diane Tyler Hibbs, age 78, of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Janet was born in Miami, Florida on August 13, 1946. Her parents were Wellford Harrison Tyler, Jr., the mayor of Miami Springs, and Celia Tatom Tyler, a bookkeeper. Janet had one brother, W. David Tyler. As a child, she enjoyed trips to the beach, the movies, and the carnival with her family. She had a special fondness for her grandmother, Bessie, who instilled a deep faith in God in her. In second grade Janet's family moved to Banks, Alabama when her grandfather fell ill. After his passing, they relocated a short distance away to Brundidge, Alabama. As a teenager, Janet learned floral design, piano, and dance. As a senior at Pike County High School in 1965, she participated in the National Peanut Festival Beauty Pageant, representing Brundidge. After graduating, she studied cosmetology and accounting at a community college in Dothan, Alabama, and eventually met her first husband, Jeff Parker. They had two children, Paige and Dax. Jeff's career with the FAA led them to live in various locations before settling in Atlanta.
Janet's second husband, Ron Hibbs, was a high school principal. They had one child, Lacy. Janet later became a teacher and worked with disadvantaged children in the Clayton County School System, finding great reward in helping them learn. Ron passed away in 1999.
Janet is survived by her children: Paige Parker, Dax Parker, and Lacy Hibbs Cavins (Nathen); and her brother, David Tyler.
She wished to be cremated and her ashes interred at the family cemetery in Banks, Alabama. The family will announce any plans for a memorial service at a later date. Moody Daniel Funeral Home
