A veteran volunteer for local recreation, Nash Austin, was elected chairman of the newly created Thomaston-Upson Joint Advisory Committee at the organization meeting Wednesday.
County Manager Jason Tinsley and City Manager Russell Thompson reviewed the proposed enabling resolution to create the board after some rough going between the city and county over recreation.
The five member board is composed of Coach Eddie Payton, Felica Wells, Daneen Jones, Chip Clark and Nash Austin. No vice-chair was elected during the meeting.
The new recreation department director, Bryan Kelly will be on the job May 16th the board was told.
