
Mr. Norman Eugene “Gene” Phillips, age 78, of Milner, passed away February 17, 2025, at his home.
Gene was born in Whitehall, Illinois on August 31, 1946, to the late Truman Phillips and Sara Jane Moore Phillips. He spent most of his life in Illinois but the last several years he lived in Tennessee and Georgia. Gene was a Research Inspector for Caterpillar, a Research and Development Plant in Mossville, Illinois. He started his career there in 1965 and retired in 1995. Gene was a mathematician and computer expert, who was always willing to help others with technology help and advice when needed.
Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Judy Carole Brawner Phillips and sister, Linda Kay Rocky.
He is survived by his children: Carmen Selby of Milner, GA, Tonya (Damon) Kaberna of Commerce City, CO, Lisa (Robert) Whitmer of Chicago, IL, Tony Carlton of Bradford, IL, Robert (Michelle) Phillips of Kewanee, IL, Brian Carlton of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Trisha, Cassandra, Brandon, Chelese, Amanda, Megan, Robert, Michael, Lara, Molly, Brieanna, Corina, Cody, Zebulyn, Jonathan, Hunter and Brooke; many great-grandchildren; sister: Laura Bea Thomas of Pekin, IL; brother-in-law: Gary Rocky of New Mexico; step-mother-in-law: Marie Brawner of Manito, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11 AM in Greenwood Cemetery, Barnesville, Georgia. Trisha Walker will officiate.
Friends are invited to join the family for a reception immediately following the graveside service at VFW Post 6542 located at 361 Old Highway 41, Barnesville, Georgia.
