Ruth Lindsey Harris Wrinkle

Ruth Lindsey Harris Wrinkle, age 101, formerly of Hapeville, GA passed away October 5, 2024, at West Village Retirement Community in Thomaston, GA.  She was born December 13, 1922.  Ruth was educated in elementary and high schools in Junction City and Talbotton, GA, and as a young lady attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA.  In 1942 Ruth started her career with American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in Atlanta, GA.  After 36 years with AT&T Ruth retired at the age of 55 in 1978.  She married Herman (Humpy) Mitchell Wrinkle February 26, 1946, at the First United Methodist Church, Atlanta, GA with the Reverend Pierce Harris officiating.  Herman was a World War II veteran born October 20, 1920, in Dalton, GA and died May 9, 1992.  Ruth spent many devoted years contributing her time to the AT&T Pioneers, charities, her friends, family, golfing, bowling, and her two Siamese cats Prince and Princess.  Her sense of humor and many stories will be remembered.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Newton Harris and Martha Lee Wood Harris; husband, Herman Mitchell Wrinkle; brothers, Robert Wood Harris, Samuel Newton Harris, Berl Marion Harris, Dr. Eugene Lee Harris; sisters, Mary Anna Harris Moses, Martha Christine Harris Butler; and a niece, Sandra Marie Harris Newsome.

 

Ruth is survived by nephews Martin Harris Moses (Kathy) Uvalda, GA, Michael James Moses (Cyndi) Louisville, GA, Samuel Newton Harris (Judy) Molena, GA; niece, Kathy Ann Harris Matthews (Andy) Thomaston, GA; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

 

The family thanks the staff of West Village Retirement Community and Thomaston Hospice for their compassionate care.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Heath Memorial Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 119, Hamilton, GA 31811.

 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talbotton, Georgia at 1 pm with visitation thirty (30) minutes prior to the service at the graveside. MOODY-DANIEL FUNERAL HOME
