Syble Elizabeth Lively Lee

Ms. Syble Elizabeth Lively Lee, age 88, of Riverdale, passed away January 10, 2025.  Elizabeth grew up in Atlanta, daughter of the late Clinton Paul and Catherine Fain (maiden name) Lively.  She lived in College Park for years before moving to Riverdale in 1964.  She was a long-time member of Riverdale Presbyterian Church where she was in charge of the nursery.  Elizabeth never missed a single Sunday of attending church for 50 years. She received an award from the church for her dedicated service. She became a member of Riverdale United Methodist Church after her church closed where she had been keeping nursery also since 1996 when not at her home church. Elizabeth was a homemaker who loved children, had eight of her own, and took care of many more.  There was always an extra child or two at her home.

At a young age, Elizabeth would walk to the baseball field near her home and watch the minor team, the Atlanta Crackers, until the Braves moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta. She started watching the Braves and watched them faithfully throughout her life. Hank Aaron was her all time favorite player! Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she collected angels. She read the bible at least 26 times from front to back that she knew of after she started keeping up with it. She spent several hours each morning reading her bible.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bobby Lee, son, James Gary Lee, brother, William (Billy) Fain, three sisters, Polly Bowling, Eva Mae Lively and Nina Hilsman.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Vickie Lynn Lytel, Dina Elizabeth Miller, Rickey Howard Lee (Karen), Lisa Dianne Lee (Lynne), Daryl Alan Lee (Labriska Mayes), Stacie Kim Burnette (Jonathan), and Christopher “Chris” Alan Lee (Jena); niece: Pam Lee, nephew: Michael Goulet; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A service celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held at a later date.
