A taxpayer with a $100,000 homestead property in the County will see a very minimal increase over what their taxes would have been in 2023 had we not received the HTRG (Homestead Tax Relief Grant) from the State. That credit was $368.28.
City homestead taxpayers will see about a $120 increase over what their 2023 taxes would’ve been without the HTRG credit of $417.51.
Of course, tax amounts will vary depending on the amount of exemptions the taxpayer is qualified for and the amount that that particular home value increased in 2024. We’ll be seeing an increase in both the County & City M & O proposed millage rates with the County reducing their Unincorporated & Joint Projects millage rates and the City leaving their Joint Projects millage the same as 2023. The School reduced their M & O millage rate for 2024. The total millage for a County taxpayer will be 26.26 and a City’s taxpayer total millage will be 30.054; should the City approve their proposed millage at a called meeting Sept. 5th.
With these same principles in mind, a $200,000 home in the County will see a very minimal increase and a $200,000 home in the City will see an increase of about $276.00. A $300,000 home in the County will average about $10 more and a $300,000 home in the City will see an increase of about $430.00.
It’s important to keep in mind that homestead property taxpayers will not be receiving the HTRG credit from the State as we did last year and our 2024 bill will reflect that.
