Theo Miles, born February 4, 1940, in Griffin, Georgia, passed away
peacefully on the evening of November 14, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. A
devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Theo's life was marked by
steadfast faith, service, and dedication to his family and community. Theo
is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda, his children Kelley
(Christine) Miles and Karen (Paul) Cook, his seven grandchildren, Mary Beth
(Jonah) Grant, Hannah Miles, Darby (Garrett) Blackstock, John Miles, Jordan
Cook, Abigail Miles, and Elyse Cook, one great-grandchild, Reese Blackstock,
and his siblings, Brenda Wright and Ron Miles.
Theo's journey was one of accomplishment and dedication. An Eagle Scout by
the age of 14, he graduated from R.E. Lee Institute in Thomaston, Georgia in
1958 and went on to attend North Georgia College, where he competed as a
member of the rifle team. His commitment to learning led him to Mercer
University, where he earned a degree in chemistry-a field he pursued with
great passion and excellence.
Answering the call to serve, Theo joined the United States Army, where he
was stationed in Okinawa as part of the Air Defense Command for two years.
His service continued stateside with the National Guard in Thomaston.
Theo's professional life was marked by nearly five decades at Thomaston
Mills, where he rose to the position of Corporate Quality Director before
retiring in 2000. His colleagues and friends knew him as a man of integrity,
respected for his leadership, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Thomaston, Theo served as both
a deacon and director of the TV ministry. His legacy of service to his
church and community will be remembered with gratitude.
A celebration of Theo's life will be held at First Baptist Church of
Thomaston on November 17th. There will be a visitation with the family at
2:00pm with a service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made
to the First Baptist Church AV Team.
