UPSON PLANNING COMMISSION CONTINUANCE FOR NEW CHURCH

AT THE APRIL MEETING, THE UPSON COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION GRANTED A CONTINUANCE FOR A REZONING REQUEST FROM THE HOPE OF THE GENERATIONS CHURCH AT 74 WEST/MCCARD/PICKARD ROADS. CHAD LAMBETH OF A LAND PLANNER COMPANY HIRED BY THE CHURCH TOLD THE BOARD THE TRAFFIC PLAN NEEDS TO BE TWEAKED. STAFF HAD SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT A SINGLE ENTRANCE AND EXIT TO THE PROPOSED CAMPUS AND THAT'S FROM PICKARD ROAD. THE NEW CHURCH IS PLANNED ON 56 ACRES BUT THERE IS SOME NEIGHBORHOOD OPPOSITION, AND IT WAS STANDING ROOM ONLY IN THE MEETING CHAMBER. PRO AND CON CAN ADDRESS THE PLANNING COMMISSION ABOUT THE PROJECT AT THE MAY MEETING.
