Willie W. Stripling (“Micki”), age 84, formerly of Thomaston, passed away Saturday, September 21 at Rehab Select at Talladega Healthcare in Talladega, AL. Micki grew up in Thomaston and attended R. E. Lee and Upson Tech. She worked many years as a homemaker, later serving as Manager of the Kenwin Shop in Thomaston. Ms. Stripling also worked in sales and customer service at Walmart, first in Thomaston and later in Clanton, Al.
Preceded in death were her parents: Buster and Hazel Washam (Thomaston); sisters Charlotte Washam, Nancy Peaden, Marilyn “Peggy” Walker and Patricia “Patsy” Bibb (Thomaston) and Jane Daniel (Tampa, FL).
Ms. Stripling is survived by three daughters: Donna Fogarty (Williamson, GA); Lisa Prior (Spring Branch, TX); and Carol Westmoreland Pounds (Athens, GA). She is also survived by four grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Harrell (Griffin, GA); TJ Quesenberry (Canyon Lake, TX); and Ceri Prior and Jonah Prior (Spring Branch, TX). Other survivors include five sisters and two brothers: Linda Hurt, Shirley Stallings, and Dorothy Bender (Thomaston); Connie Norstrum (Cerres, CA); Bonnie Williamson (Pocatello, ID); Bill Washam (Boise, ID); and Johnny Washam (Bayview, ID).
Visitation for Willie “Micki” Stripling will be held at Coggins Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date at Crystal Hill Cemetery.
